One does not need any more reasons to love Trader Joe’s, but we’re going to give you one anyway. You may have not known this, but there’s a “try before you buy” policy at Trader Joe’s that’s exactly what it sounds like. If there’s something you’re keen on purchasing, but you’re not sure how it will taste and whether you’ll like it, don’t hesitate to ask one of the friendly staff employees to pop open a sample and let you give it a go.

Obviously, this doesn’t apply to everything in the store. You can’t request a bottle of wine to be opened on a whim, you can’t eat the fresh produce, and you can’t exactly ask them to heat up a frozen meal for you to munch on. But pretty much anything else is fair game. So if there’s a new item on the shelf that you’re unsure of, go ahead! Ask to taste it!

This comes in really handy because — betcha didn’t know this either — Trader Joe’s releases at least one new product each week, whether it’s pretzel bagels or sweet sriracha bacon jerky.

This is just one of the many ways you can save money at Trader Joe’s. You just have to know the secrets of the joint. For starters, you’ve got to get your hands on the Fearless Flyer, even if you download it on your phone. It tells you what the specials are, what the sales are, and what the featured products are. You’re bound to save a few more bucks that way.

That’s not all, though.

Sometimes Trader Joe’s also hosts big giveaways. For example, there was a “Strut Your Stuffed” recipe contest and people used several ingredients from Trader Joe’s to create their very own specialty dish. The reward was a hefty in-store gift card. Score! Stay tuned for more of those, because who doesn’t want free chocolate peanut butter cups?!

Trader Joe’s policies are pretty nifty.

Finally, the return policy is a real winner, and it stops you from wasting your precious money. As long as you keep the receipt, you can return virtually anything, whether it’s gone bad, it’s damaged, or you simply don’t like what it tastes like. When you think about it, really, you wonder why you ever shop anywhere else.
