Trevor Ariza posted his fifth double-double this season, scoring 21 points and registering 10 rebounds, to help the Washington Wizards pull out a close one against the New Orleans Pelicans, 102-96. The Wizards had a strong shooting performance in this one, going 38-80 (47.5%) from the field, including 10-21 (47.6%) from three-point range. This is the second win in as many games for Washington (16-17) after beating Charlotte on Tuesday.
Ariza shot 9-17 from the field, including 2-7 on 3-point attempts. Other key players for Washington included John Wall with 20 points and 6 assists, Jan Vesely with 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Marcin Gortat with 11 points and 14 rebounds. On 9-18 shooting (1-5 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 4-5 from the free throw line, Eric Gordon put up 23 points for New Orleans in the loss.
New Orleans (15-19) has now lost three straight contests.
