Travis d'Arnaud: Still Expected To Open Year At Triple-A

Update: The Mets are still planning to have d'Arnaud open the season with Triple-A Las Vegas, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.

Recommendation: D'Arnaud has posted an .810 OPS this spring, but since he would open the year as the backup behind John Buck, the Mets will likely send him to Las Vegas to get him regular at-bats. In addition, by not calling him up until at least May, the Mets retain another year of his rights based on when his service time clock would start. D'Arnaud posted a .975 OPS in 67 games with Las Vegas last season, so he figures to put up big numbers until he joins the big club, likely sometime this summer.
