Trade sends Luke Moore to Toronto FC, Marvin Chavez to Chivas USA

A flurry of activity Thursday means several MLS players will be with new clubs next week.

The Colorado Rapids sent Honduran World Cup selection Marvin Chavez to Chivas USA and picked up former Aston Villa striker Luke Moore in return. They subsequently flipped Moore for defensive help, sending the forward to Toronto FC in exchanged for defender Gale Agbossoumonde. Moore joined Chivas USA in the offseason and had made two starts.

“With our current depth in defense we felt that the opportunity to acquire an attacking player like Luke Moore was the right decision to make at this time for the club as we approach the World Cup break,” Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a news release.

Chivas USA also acquired Ryan Finley from the Columbus Crew, who received a conditional second round pick in the 2016 SuperDraft. Finley had been on loan at USL PRO's Dayton Dutch Lions prior to the transaction.

“This move gives us salary cap flexibility and an additional roster spot,” Crew sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter said in a news release. “Equally as important, the deal gives Ryan an opportunity to compete at the MLS level again and it’s a chance for him to make a mark in our league. We wish him success in the next chapter of his career.”
