The Bills will continue to make alterations to their roster on Saturday, and must be down to 53 players by 4:00 p.m. ET. Follow along here.
Within a little more than four hours, the Buffalo Bills must reduce their active roster to 53 players. We'll be using this as an open thread to track the Bills' roster cuts throughout the day on Saturday.
At the time this post was published, the Bills officially had 62 players on their roster. Unofficially, a 63rd is on his way - veteran quarterback Kyle Orton, whose signing has not yet occurred, but who has reportedly agreed to a short-term deal to be the Bills' backup (for now?) quarterback.
Bare minimum, we're going to see the Bills cut 10 more players today. But they could also bring in a new punter, or perhaps different young depth in key spots, which would of course necessitate even more releases to make room for the new players. Either way, you can expect a fairly busy news day, with perhaps even more news coming on Sunday before the Bills officially begin prep for the Chicago Bears next week.
Here's an updated look at the Bills' depth chart as of Saturday morning. We'll update here as we see any news roll in. PSA: I (Brian) will be leaving at roughly 1:30 p.m. to attend a family wedding, and Matt will be taking over coverage in the vicinity of 2:00 p.m. for the rest of the day. If news breaks in that short window when the site is unattended by one of us, and you just can't wait to talk about it, well... in the immortal words of Ace Ventura, just wait longer.
