Towson 75, UMBC 60

Buoyed by forward Marcus Damas' game-high 22 points, Towson snapped a two-game losing skid with a 75-60 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County in Towson, Md., on Tuesday night.

Towson (4-2) snapped a two-game losing streak. UMBC (2-5) fell for the third consecutive time.

The Tigers shot an even 50 percent, making 20 of 40 field-goal attempts. The Retrievers hit just 19 of 66 shots (28.8 percent), and they were outrebounded 45-32.

Damas shot 7-for-11 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

UMBC was led by Chase Plummer, who scored 17 points. It marked the fourth consecutive game the senior forward scored double figures.

Towson took a 31-28 lead into halftime. The Tigers shot 50 percent from the field, hitting nine of 18 shots, while UMBC shot 29 percent, making 10 of 34 from the floor.

UMBC led 26-25 after a 3-pointer from forward Rodney Elliott with 3:53 left in the half.

Aside from that brief passage, Towson controlled the opening half. The Tigers' largest lead before the break was 20-13. Tigers forward Rafriel Guthrie led all scorers at intermission with 12 points on 3-for-6 shooting. He finished 4-for-9 for 14 points.
