NORTON, Mass. – Tiger Woods opened with two birdies and has moved to 9 under for the tournament through his first six holes in Saturday’s second round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Woods knocked his first approach shot of the day to within five feet for birdie at the opening hole at TPC Boston. He then two-putted from 36 feet for birdie at the par-5 second.
Woods did bogey the third hole but bounced back with a birdie at the sixth. He’s the closest pursuer on the course to tournament leader Rory McIlroy, who has finished his first 36 holes at 12 under.
Louis Oosthuizen is 3 under on his round through seven holes and 9 under for the tournament. Charl Schwartzel and D.A. Points are both 4 under for their rounds and 7 under for the tournament through 11 holes.
With the cutline currently at 1 over, some of the players who have finished their rounds and are in danger of being knocked out of the FedExCup Playoffs include Cameron Tringale, Michael Thompson, K.J. Choi and Rory Sabbatini.
