WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. — Just how easy is The Old White TPC playing here in the second round?
“I would say it’s set up significantly easier [than the first round],” said Kevin Chappell after a 4-under 66 Friday to move into contention going into the weekend. “Especially if you’re playing in the afternoon. There’s very little wind. What wind there is is consistent. Yesterday it seems like it blew from every direction.”
Today, birdies seem to be coming from every direction.
Charlie Beljan is 7 under through 13 holes, while Bob Estes is 5 under with one hole left in his round.
The course has a whole, at least for now, is playing a half-stroke under par.
One of the players who hasn’t been able to take advantage of the conditions, however, is Phil Mickelson. He’s 1 over on the day and 2 over for the tournament, which puts him two shots outside the current cut with only three holes left in his round.
