2013 PREVIEW: George McNeill won for the second time and snapped a five-year victory drought at the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com. But it was his only top-10 of the season after a career-high four in 2011, so the Florida State product will be looking to put himself in the hunt more often this year.
2012 DEFINING MOMENT: McNeill closed with a 69 in Puerto Rico to hold off Japanese phenom Ryo Ishikawa — winning for the second time in three tries when he held the third-round lead. The win snapped a string of six runner-up finishes since his inaugural TOUR victory in 2007. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM
ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Here’s a man who was folding sweaters in a pro shop not all that long ago and is now a multi-tournament winner on the PGA TOUR. George had one big week and turned it into a victory at the Puerto Rico Open. Otherwise, he struggled with his iron play, hitting just 63 percent of his greens in regulation. That ranks 148th on TOUR.– Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio
BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Except for the hiccup that was 2010, he’s been a serviceable investment deep in rosters. That said, he failed to post a top 35 in his last 13 starts this year, but he had suffered from a back injury in late July. When healthy, he’s sneaky, so toss him onto your flier pile. — Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert
