Tour Report: Kuchar starts hot, cools off

PGATOUR.com

For a while, it looked like the five-way tie for the lead wouldn’t last very long — not with Matt Kuchar birdieing each of his first five holes Thursday.

Kuchar gave a shot back, however, with a bogey on No. 7, where he missed the fairway left and missed the green long before failing to get up and down for par. He made the turn in 4 under.

Still, it was the only blemish so far for Kuchar, who made a couple of long-ish birdies, including a 40-footer on the par-4 second, on his way to the hot start.

He’s not the only one making a move in the afternoon wave.

Greg Owen and Cameron Tringale are 5 and 4 under, respectively, through 13 holes, while Vijay Singh is among a pack of players at 3 under.

Defending champion Sean O’Hair, who won this tournament when it was played in Vanouver last year, hasn’t been as fortunate. He’s 3 over through eight holes.
