Tour Report: Karlsson, Hurley III, Atwal on to finals

Robert Karlsson turned in four rounds in the 60s to shoot 18 under and take medalist honors at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., on Saturday. Former U.S. Navy Lieutenant Billy Hurley III tied for second, two shots back, along with Derek Fathauer.

Arjun Atwal (T7, 12 under) , Daniel Chopra (T10, 10 under) and Derek Lamely (T19, 8 under) were among the qualifiers. The top 19 and ties advanced to final stage.

Matt Fast closed with a 67 to take low honors by three shots (13 under) on Saturday at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City, Fla. Scott Sterling, Nick Rousey and Vince Covello tied for second at 10 under.

Erik Compton (T8, 8 under), Len Mattiace (T12, 6 under), Glen Day (T12, 6 under) and Gavin Coles (T12, 6 under) also moved on. The top 19 advanced to final stage (Click here for Hombre scores).

Also on Saturday, at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, Calif., Si Kim of South Korea was the medalist by one shot at 19 under over Bhavik Patel of Bakersfield, Calif.

After Patel, there was a gap of six shots back to third-place Dae Hyun-Kim of South Korea. Dean Wilson was in a tie for sixth at 8 under. Tom Pernice, who split time between the Champions Tour and PGA TOUR in 2012, advanced after finishing T8. Patrick Cantlay was also at T8 (7 under).

At Plantation (Fla.) Preserve Golf Course & Club, Kris Blanks and Ross Fisher were two of 19 players to survive the second stage of q-school and advance to the final stage in two weeks.

Rob Oppenheim took home medalist honors at 21 under after a 67 Friday. South Korea’s Meen Whee Kim finished second four shots back, while Blanks finished third and Fisher 13th.

At TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, Peter Tomasulo, Paul Stankowski, James Nitties and Kyle Reifers were among those moving through on Friday.

At Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas, Patrick Reed shared co-medalist honors with Franklin Corpening after a 69 Friday to finish at 14 under.

Kevin Kisner finished alone in third a stroke back, while Kelly Kraft finished fourth.

Shaun Micheel also survived despite a final-round 73. He finished at 7 under and made it by a stroke. (Click here for Redstone scores)
