SAN FRANCISCO – Fredrik Jacobson got through the tough opening six-hole stretch Saturday, then he made his move. Three straight birdies to finish his front nine has moved him into a tie for second behind solo leader Jim Furyk.

Jacobson is 2 under for the day and 1 over for the tournament. Furyk leads at even par, thanks to a nice par save at his third hole.

Tiger Woods bogeyed two of his first three holes and is tied with Jacobson at 1 over. Graeme McDowell, David Toms and Nicolas Colsaerts are also each at 1 over.

Toms, like Woods, bogeyed two of his first three holes.

Beau Hossler, the 17-year-old amateur, is hanging tough. He had two birdies in his first seven holes and is even par on his round and 3 over for the tournament.

Lee Westwood, Webb Simpson and Kevin Chappell have moved up the leaderboard. Each is 2 under for their rounds late on their back nines.

Jason Dufner has started his round with seven straight pars and remains at 3 over.
