The Frys.com Open marks the second of the four Fall Series events, during which many players will be trying to secure their playing privileges for next season.
Going into this week’s event at CordeValle, Jeff Maggert is the man on the bubble at 125th on the money list with a shade under $600,000 in earnings. Last year, D.J. Trahan finished 125th with $668,166 in earnings, so that gives you a pretty good idea of where a player will have to get to this year to finish inside the top 125 (though there was an uptick in purse money this season).
Of the next 10 players on the money list going into the opening round at CordeValle, Retief Goosen, Justin Leonard, Tim Herron and Jerry Kelly have some sort of exemption they can apply toward next year should they remain on the outside looking in.
That means the pressure is on Rod Pampling (126th), Bill Lunde (128th), Bobby Gates (129th), Richard H. Lee (130th), Vaughn Taylor (133rd) and Chez Reavie (135th).
All are in the field this week, too. To keep track of them and others fighting for a spot in the top 125, you can follow our live projected money list.
