Tour Report: Featured groups for first two rounds

Tee times are now available for the first round of the Open. Here’s a look at some of the featured groups for the first two rounds.

Ernie Els, Ben Curtis, Trevor Immelman: All three are past major winners and all three have had varying degrees of success this season with Els having the best year thanks to a win at the British Open. Curtis, meanwhile, won in Texas and finished second at THE PLAYERS Championship, while Immelman has five top 25s this year. His best finish was a tie for 11th at Bay Hill.

Camilo Villegas, Davis Love III, Vijay Singh: Love said last week that playing golf is a good distraction from the fallout of the Ryder Cup loss, which he admitted he’s not over. He’ll get another chance this week. Singh, meanwhile, has played well the second half of the season with three top 10s in his last seven starts.

Gary Woodland, Angel Cabrera, Luke Guthrie: After battling through a wrist injury earlier in the year, a now healthy Woodland is trying to play as much as possible. Guthrie, meanwhile, is looking to continue what’s already been a big year with two wins on the Tour. In his three starts on the PGA TOUR, he’s finished in the top 20 each time, including a tie for fifth at the John Deere Classic.

Bryce Molder, Jerry Kelly, Justin Leonard: Molder is back to defend after an epic six-hole playoff with Briny Baird at CordeValle last year. Kelly and Leonard, meanwhile, are trying to secure a spot in the top 125 on the money list to secure a card for next season, though both have career money exemptions if needed.
