Tour Report: Featured groups for first two rounds

NORTON, Mass. – Tee times are now available for the first two rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship, with the first round set for Friday. As in every FedExCup Playoffs events, threesomes in the first two rounds at each event are grouped by their points ranking. Here’s a look at some of the featured groups (FedExCup ranking in parentheses). Fill out the form below and let us know what you think

Nick Watney (1), Brandt Snedeker (2), Tiger Woods (3) – The top group in FedExCup points, with Watney replacing Woods at No. 1 with his win last week at The Barclays.

Rory McIlroy (4), Zach Johnson (5), Jason Dufner (6) – Dufner makes his 2012 Playoffs debut this week after taking off last week.

Bubba Watson (7), Dustin Johnson (8), Carl Pettersson (9) – Watson ranks No. 1 on the PGA TOUR in driving distance; Johnson ranks seventh. Pettersson? He’s a respectable 38th in that category – tied with Tiger Woods.

Matt Kuchar (11), Hunter Mahan (12), Keegan Bradley (13) – Mahan, who won two early events, including the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, has one top-10 finish in his last 13 starts and comes off consecutive missed cuts.

Luke Donald (14), Justin Rose (15), Steve Stricker (16) – Donald and Rose are on the European team for next month’s Ryder Cup. Stricker is hoping for a captain’s picks next Tuesday when U.S. captain Davis Love III announces his selections.

Phil Mickelson (17), Ernie Els (18), Rickie Fowler (19) – We’ll go out on a limb and say this trio will have a decent-sized gallery this week.

Webb Simpson (20), Louis Oosthuizen (21), Bo Van Pelt (22) – Simpson, the defending Deutsche Bank champion and reigning U.S. open champ, has missed the cut in two of his last three starts.

John Senden (32), Graeme McDowell (33), Adam Scott (34) – Scott has top-10 finishes in his last two starts at TPC Boston and won on this course in 2003.

Charles Howell III (68), Jonathan Byrd (69) and Brian Davis (70) – Davis is the bubble boy this week, with only the top 70 moving on to next week’s BMW Championship. Can he maintain his position?

Charley Hoffman (86), Blake Adams (87), Jason Day (88) – Three guys outside the top 70 bubble who need to play well this week … and three guys who seems to like this course. Hoffman won here in 2010; Adams and Day finished in top 10 last year.
