BETHESDA, Md. — With Congressional Country Club playing more like a U.S. Open than the last time it played host to the AT&T National, we could be headed for the highest cut line of the year in a non-major.
Right now, the cut is 4 over with 72 players at that number.
At the U.S. Open two weeks ago, the cut was 8 over, the highest on the PGA TOUR this season. The Masters ranked second at 5 over, while the Valero Texas Open, also at 4 over, was third.
There are some notable names on the wrong side of the number here.
K.J. Choi, who won here in 2007, is headed home after a 73 Friday that left him at 10 over. So is amateur Jordan Spieth, who shot a couple of 75s here.
Rory Sabbatini, Ben Crane, Camilo Villegas and Y.E. Yang are all also on the wrong side of the number, though each is early in his round.
