Tottenham youngster Bostock joins Toronto FC on loan

Tottenham midfielder John Bostock has joined Toronto FC on loan until the end of June.

The 21-year-old flew out to the North London club's American affiliate San Jose Earthquakes in February for a series of trials with a view to a temporary move until the end of the season, much like what current Aston Villa loanee Simon Dawkins had done for the last two seasons.

The midfielder has now linked up with former teammate Ryan Nelsen, who was appointed Toronto head coach at the start of the year, in Canada, where he will remain until the opening of the European summer transfer window.

The former England Under-19 international signed for Tottenham from Crystal Palace in 2008 and became the club's youngest-ever player at the age of 16 years and 295 days when making his during a 4-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Cup six months later.

Bostock's career at Tottenham has so far failed to live up to its initial promise, serving the majority of his time on loan at lower-league clubs - most recently a six-month loan at Swindon Town.

Bostock has been training with Toronto FC and is a candidate to play for the Reds when they take on Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.
