Tottenham midfielder Sandro will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, the club confirmed on its official website on Friday. Follow GOAL.COM on Twitter
The Brazilian hobbled out of Saturday's goalless draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road, and scans have since revealed he has suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus in his right knee.
After consulting a specialist, Sandro underwent surgery to repair the problem and will miss the rest of the current campaign as a result.
The setback is a blow to boss Andre Villas-Boas' top-four aspirations, and it could mean that Spurs enter the transfer market for a new holding midfielder, or accelerate the proposed summer transfer of Lewis Holtby from Schalke.
