Torrealba sent to Milwaukee for cash

The Toronto Blue Jays traded catcher Yorvit Torrealba to the Milwaukee Brewers for cash, MLB.com reported Friday.

Torrealba started the season with the Texas Rangers. He batted .236 for the Rangers in 49 games before getting released. He played 10 games for the Blue Jays, hitting .214 in 28 at-bats. Torrealba has played for six teams in 12 years and reached the playoffs in 2003 with the San Francisco Giants, 2007 and 2009 with the Colorado Rockies and 2011 with Texas.

If the Brewers (77-72) -- who entered Friday 2 1/2 games back in wild card race -- make the postseason, Torrealba would not be eligible to be on Milwaukee's playoff roster.
