Eastern Canada's two Major League Soccer teams split the honors as Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact played out a scoreless draw at BMO Field.
Andrew Wenger spurned two early chances to open the scoring for the visitor. The 21-year-old rookie sent a 7th minute shot wide after a nice layoff from Patrice Bernier, and repeated the act in the 13th after an excellent through ball from Sanna Nyassi.
Although Montreal controlled more of the match, outpassing and out-possessing the Reds, the Impact weren't able to find the back of Freddy Hall's net. Marco Di Vaio was uncharacteristically profligate, spurning several chances, including a hashed volley right at the death of the match.
Both teams are out of the playoffs, and the finishing from both sides will not give supporters anything to be hopeful about this offseason.
