Big Show and John Cena

COMMENTARY | Pro wrestling often takes the necessity of everyone having a gimmick way too far.

For every John Cena and Randy Orton (professional wrestlers who actually use their real names) there are 10 other Red Roosters and Repo Men. Unfortunately, creative teams and bookers appear to save their worst efforts for assigning stage names to tag teams. The list of terrible, corny names for wrestling tag teams is embarrassingly long. We may never know why anyone thought these horrible names would actually help these tag teams get over.

Take a closer look at the top five corniest names for tag teams in wrestling history.

5. Ink Inc.

We can't blame whoever thought Kelly Kelly would be a clever wrestling name for the Ink Inc. faux pas because they happened in different organizations. As tattoos were becoming more popular, TNA formed a tag team out of its inked up superstars Shannon Moore and Jesse Neal. At the time, TNA had a strong tag team division and Ink Inc. never won the TNA Tag Team Championships. Today, more wrestling fans remember their name than their in-ring exploits.

4. The Natural Disasters

Long before The Hurricane was wondering, "What's up with that?" wrestling fans were wondering what was up with The Natural Disasters. But I guess it was only natural for Earthquake and Typhoon to join forces as a tag team. The early 1990s was the golden era of corny gimmicks in the WWF and this tag team was no exception. Both wrestlers later worked for WCW, with Typhoon falling through a wall in his disastrous debut at Clash of the Champions.

3. Team Hell No

Appearing on a list of corny tag team names is probably the only bad wrestling list that Daniel Bryan will ever grace. Bryan and Kane were actually a great tag team with surprisingly good chemistry. But their name, which combined elements of Kane's hellish gimmick and Bryan's anti-yes chant, just made me shake my head. This time, I can't blame the WWE for this terrible tag team name, because it was chosen by fellow wrestling fans on Twitter.

2. ShoMiz

For some reason, the WWE loves capitalizing letters in the middle of a word. But I digress. The Miz, who is honestly one of the WWE's most underrated tag team wrestlers, formed a successful tag team with Big Show. In fact, ShoMiz was the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. However, the ridiculous pun on "showbiz" and the lack of creativity in assigning a tag team name to Big Show and Miz was appalling. But at least the WWE didn't name them SloBiz.

1. The Dynamic Dudes

Granted, it can't be easy living up to the family reputation when your brother is half of The Road Warriors. But WCW didn't do John Laurinaitis any favors when they formed a tag team between him and Shane Douglas called The Dynamic Dudes. The only thing worse than their name was their gimmick. They literally rolled down to ringside on skateboards. The gimmick mercifully ended with Jim Cornette turning on them in favor of The Midnight Express.
