Top 5 Wrestlers Who May Have Attacked Sting on TNA Impact

Sting attacked

As the June 14 edition of Impact Wrestling was nearing its end, Sting was addressing the fans about being named to the TNA Hall of Fame. Suddenly, Sting was attacked by three masked wrestlers. Presumably, these three masked men will continue to wreak havoc on Sting and perhaps other TNA wrestlers throughout the summer.

This storyline has a lot of promise so don't look for the TNA creative team to reveal their identities any time soon. Before I get into who may have attacked Sting, it's important to make one point very clear.

Don't try to use physical attributes like height or muscle build when attempting to ascertain who attacked Sting. The wrestlers who attacked Sting may not be the same people who eventually unmask. Several different wrestlers attacked Sting as The Black Scorpion in WCW before he was eventually revealed to be Ric Flair.

Unfortunately, TNA took a lot of the fun out of this storyline by having Sting's attackers wear short sleeve shirts. Now we know that wrestlers sporting a skin tone similar to Bobby Lashley, Jay Lethal and King Mo could not have attacked Sting. Wrestling fans are smarter than that!

Take a closer look at the top five leading candidates to have been Sting's three masked attackers.

5. (tie) Bully Ray and Samoa Joe

I only mention these two because most fans are assuming that Sting's attackers are not currently in TNA. If the attackers are currently on the TNA roster, then Bully Ray and Samoa Joe would be the most likely candidates.

4. Scott Steiner

Since leaving TNA, Scott Steiner has engaged in one of the most vicious Twitter assaults in history against Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. It would be one of the greatest works in history if it was all a ruse to sell Sting's attack.

3. Joey Ryan

Joey Ryan is the wrestler who lost out on a TNA contract in Gut Check. Apparently, there was genuine heat between Ryan and Taz. Attacking Sting on Impact Wrestling would be a great way for the jilted wrestler to get back at TNA.

2. Chris Masters

Having Chris Masters attack Sting plays well into an NWO-like invasion angle as he is well known from his time in WWE. Also, Masters has been wrestling in dark matches for TNA so he may secretly already be under contract.

1. Jeff Jarrett

If Jeff Jarrett is not one of Sting's attackers, I'll be shocked. As the founder of TNA, Jarrett has every right to be furious that Sting is the first TNA Hall of Fame inductee. Maybe one of the masked men will hit Sting over the head with a guitar later this summer!

Honorable mention possibilities as Sting's attackers

Batista, Tommy Dreamer, Goldberg, John Morrison, Kevin Nash

Patrick Michael lives in New Orleans and has always been a big fan of pro wrestling. Patrick's favorite wrestling promotion was Mid-South Wrestling back in the 1980s. Patrick's favorite wrestling angle of all-time was the NWO and his favorite wrestler was Roddy Piper. Follow Patrick Michael on Twitter at patmichael84.
