2012-13 New Orleans Hornets
The New Orleans Hornets have already made a number of changes under new owner Tom Benson. Foremost among the changes are many new players on the 2012-13 roster. The Hornets may not be done making trades and signing free agents, but the core of the 2012-13 team is probably set.
Take a closer look at the top five new players that will be on the New Orleans Hornets in the 2012-13 NBA season.
5. F Hakim Warrick
Hakim Warrick came to the Hornets in the Robin Lopez trade. Although New Orleans is loaded at forward, Warrick will play an important role in 2012-13. At 30 years of age, he will be the oldest player on the team and should help the young Hornets mature with veteran leadership. Last season, he averaged 6.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
4. C Robin Lopez
Even Team USA had more centers than New Orleans before acquiring Robin Lopez. Although Eric Gordon will not get to play with the Phoenix Suns, he will get to play with two former Suns in 2012-13. As a starter for the Hornets, Lopez should improve on his 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game averages from a year ago.
3. G Austin Rivers
New Orleans was ecstatic when Austin Rivers was available at the 10th spot in the NBA Draft. After a tough Summer League and surgery, some Hornets fans are wondering how well Rivers will play for New Orleans this season. Although the transition to point guard is a work in progress, Rivers should improve throughout the 2012-13 season.
2. F Ryan Anderson
For New Orleans to acquire the winner of the 2012 NBA Most Improved Player Award for Gustavo Ayon was almost a steal. Ryan Anderson was an incredible outside shooter for the Orlando Magic, which will add something to the Hornets in 2012-13 they've been lacking. Anderson averaged 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last season.
1. F Anthony Davis
The drafting of Anthony Davis has New Orleans Hornets fans more excited than I've ever seen before. If Davis wasn't great enough already, his NBA development went into warp speed thanks to his roster spot on the Team USA men's basketball team. If Davis plays like fans expect, the New Orleans Arena will be rocking in 2012-13.
