German cyclist Tony Martin will participate in his first Olympic games at the the 2012 Olympic Games in London. At the end of 2011, Tony was ranked sixth in the World Tour rankings. He participated in this year's Tour de France but had to take himself out after a painful scaphoid fracture. Although his goal for this Tour was to "wear the yellow jersey" his team doctors and sports management worked with him to determine that he needed time for this injury to heal in time for the Olympics and prevent possible new injuries caused by the necessary brace.
