Host Toledo used an early 15-0 run to stake a big lead on the way to a 74-55 non-conference victory over Illinois-Chicago at Savage Hall on Saturday afternoon. The Flames (9-4) dropped their third straight despite 18 points from Daniel Barnes. Toledo (4-6) never saw a first half lead dip below nine points as Rian Pearson scored collected a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds. Barnes opened the game with a 3-pointer for UIC's lone lead but fell behind 15-3 over the next 5 minutes. Toledo led 39-30 at the half. The Flames open Horizon League play Wednesday at Youngstown State. Toledo entertains Chicago State Monday.
