Chicago Blackhawks players have shown support for local sports teams in the past.

Captain Jonathan Toews posted a photo of himself on Instagram at a recent Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field. In 2015 he brought the Stanley Cup to Wrigley with the rest of the team and threw out the first pitch. Last October the Blackhawks went with the Cup to a Chicago Bears game.

It's playoff time. #flythew

On Sunday for Game 2 of the NLCS between the Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Toews, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith visited Wrigley and were given some special gameday responsibilities.

During the seventh inning stretch they sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

They also gave the “Play Ball” call before the game and reportedly put some emphasis into it.

It’s always fun to see players from teams in different sports in a city urge on a local group in the middle a championship run. When the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010 they had gone without a championship for 49 years – the longest stretch in the NHL at that point. The Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908– currently the longest time in Major League Baseball. Since their championship in 2010, the Blackhawks have picked up two more Cups.

Can the Blackhawks’ championship swagger eventually rub off on the Cubs? The series is tied 1-1 after Chicago lost Game 2.
