Titans, DE Wimbley agree on restructured contract

The SportsXchange

The Tennessee Titans and defensive end Kamerion Wimbley agreed to a restructured contract Monday, according to multiple reports.

ESPN.com reported that the deal is for three years and $9 million. He was scheduled to earn $19.5 million over the next three seasons, including $6 million in base salary. The Tennessean reported that Wimbley will have an opportunity to earn more money through incentives.

Wimbley signed a five-year, $35 million deal with the Titans in 2012. He has earned $15.5 million in his first two seasons with the team.

The Titans asked Wimbley, who has 51.5 career sacks, to take a pay cut and he agreed rather than possibly get released.

The Titans plan to move to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Ray Horton. Wimbley would more than likely move to outside linebacker.
