Titans C Amano is on notice

Titans lose C Amano for the season

Titans head coach Mike Munchak was as protective of his offensive line as any position on the field in 2011. Munchak stuck with his guys, even though there were major issues on the interior, and staunchly defended their play publicly. But actions speak louder than words, as one source put it, and the fact that Tennessee brought in five free-agent centers for visits this offseason points clearly to incumbent starter Eugene Amano as the weak link of the group. Jeff Saturday, Scott Wells, Chris Myers and Dan Koppen all visited the Titans before signing with other clubs. But Jeff Faine, who spent the past four seasons with the Buccaneers, is still being considered by the Titans. If they don’t address the position in the draft and elect not to add Faine, expect backup Fernando Velasco to give Amano a run for his money this offseason. One source said he was surprised the 27-year-old Velasco, whom the Titans are high on, hasn’t gotten a better opportunity until now.
