Titans agree to deal with LB Woodyard

The Tennessee Titans agreed to a multiyear deal with linebacker Wesley Woodyard on Friday.

Woodyard's agent told multiple media outlets that Woodyard will sign a four-year, $16 million contract.

Woodyard was with the Denver Broncos since he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008. In 2012, he was the only player in the NFL with at least 100 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions.

Last year, Woodyard was moved to middle linebacker with Stewart Bradley out for the season with an injury. He had 84 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.

"Wesley is a player who has experience playing in both 3-4 and 4-3 systems and in our new scheme he fits as one of the inside linebackers," Titans general manager Ruston Webster said in a statement. "He is smart and fast. He also brings the leadership qualities and intangible that we look for in a player, which makes him a good fit for us."

Woodyard has been a team captain, either on special teams or defense, since his rookie season. He is considered to be more comfortable at the weak-side spot than in the middle because of his size (6 feet, 233 pounds).
