The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Friday that they re-signed restricted free-agent center Nikola Pekovic.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pekovic, 27, set career highs last season by averaging 16.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 31.6 minutes per game over 62 games (all starts).
"Pek is a dominating offensive player who plays extremely hard and is one of our key pieces," president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said in a statement. "With Pek, Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, we've got three cornerstones of the franchise that all complement each other. Pek, Kevin and Ricky all have the ability to be in the top five in the league at their respective positions."
Pekovic has averaged 11.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 23.6 minutes per game over his career. He was drafted No. 31 overall by the Timberwolves in 2008.
"I'm happy to be returning to Minnesota and the Timberwolves," Pekovic said in a statement. "I've enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to our team improving and getting into the playoffs."
