Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will need surgery to repair his broken right hand and will be out for eight to 10 weeks, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.
Love missed the start of the season with a broken bone in his hand, then broke the hand again during Thursday's game against the Denver Nuggets.
It was hoped that his latest injury would not require surgery, but after examinations the past few days, it was determined that an operation is needed.
Love could return in mid-March with less than a month remaining in the regular eason.
The Timbewolves are currently 1.5 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Love is averaging 18.3 points and 10.4 rebounds in the 18 games he's played this season.
