"I wasn't here yesterday," Whale's Tale owner Sosh Andriano said, according to Patch's report. "I'm not exactly sure where all this started my phone is ringing off the hook today," he said on Wednesday. "Everybody is calling us all day. I mean I'm not really saying anything and I'm hearing it too, I'm hearing that he moved to town."
At present time, rumors about the Tebow sighting on Long Island are sketchy at best. In this age of cell phone cameras, it's a bit shocking that no one captured an image of Tebow at the cafe if he was, in fact, there.
Northport Patch editor Leah Bush clarified the Tebow rumors in the comments section of Patch's article. "We have multiple credible sources who verified that he was at Whales Tale," she said. "As for the 'moving to Northport rumor,' that hasn't been verified at all."
While details continue to emerge, Long Island football fans were blowing up Twitter this week with their thoughts on Tebow's surprising appearance in such a low-key, quiet suburban town far from the New York Jets training facilities in New Jersey.
On June 6, Twitter user Hayley Wine (@awwHAYLyeahh) tweeted "I know what I'm doing this summer and it is stalking tim tebow since he is now a northport resident #yep."
Wine was clearly just joking around, but other tweets from local residents were dead serious.
Twitter user "Colleen" (@_Coll_Doll) tweeted "welcome to Northport Tim Tebow, can't wait to awkwardly see you around town this summer," and John Marsicano (@JohnMarsicano) tweeted on June 8 that "Tim Tebow's Northport residency has been officially confirmed."
In many ways, it makes sense for Tebow to make Northport his home. It's a quiet village in Suffolk County, home to less than 8,000 people.
It's a far cry from the bright lights of New York City, and the polar opposite of the frenzied pace of the area that surrounds the Jets' practice facility in Florham Park, NJ.
As a Long Island resident myself, I can confirm that Northport is a lovely place to live, as it features a gorgeous a gorgeous harbor and a top-quality school district.
It's a nice place to settle down, raise a family and get away from the 'hustle and bustle' of New York City.
Is Tim Tebow moving to Long Island? Let me know in the comments.
