Tigers' Cabrera leaves game with injury

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is considered day-to-day with an abdomen injury, the team announced.

Cabrera left Thursday's game against the Oakland A's in the bottom of the fifth inning after being thrown out at second base trying to stretch a single into a double.

After he got up from his slide, he grabbed the back of his left leg. He limped off the field favoring his left hip. He has dealt with hip and abdomen discomfort during the past month.

The Tigers were trailing 6-1 at the time.

Don Kelly replaced Cabrera at third base to start the sixth inning.

Cabrera is having another MVP-caliber season, with a line of .359/.450/.683 with 43 home runs and a league-leading 130 RBI.
