Tiger Woods Google+ Chat: Why This Fan Won’t Be Attending

Tiger Woods' Google+ Chat is Purely a PR Stunt

If I had the chance to meet Tiger Woods, I would like to thank him for offering me a chance to be invited to his Google+ Hangout on May 29, 2012. Tiger Woods, however, will not see me there. I am saving him the trouble of an invitation by RSVPing negatively, in advance. I would love to hang out with Tiger Woods, but a Google+ Hangout with Tiger Woods will be anything but an authentic hangout. I hope he takes this RSVP as sincerely as he offered possible invitations to his Google+ Hangout on May 23, 2012.

Tiger Woods' Google+ Hangout Attempts to Reach Fans

Through this Google+ Hangout, Tiger Woods is trying to bypass the media and reach his fans. Ever since his scandals off the links were revealed, he has been battling the media and its negative coverage of Tiger Woods. A Google+ Hangout offers Tiger Woods to talk directly with his fans and avoid any problematic spin from the media. He even initially mentioned the May 29, 2012 even via Twitter, without letting journalists know first.

Tiger Woods' Google+ Hangout will be Fake

The tweet Tiger Woods initially issued did not invite me, or any other fans of his, to attend the Google+ Hangout. Tiger Woods merely offered us the chance to submit our questions to him. All the questions received will be closely inspected by his public relations staff. After they select a few questions they like, I am sure they will do a search online for each person. Only the fans that are deemed safe will actually be invited to Tiger Woods' Google+ Hangout. Thus, the hangout with Tiger Woods on Google+ will not be an authentic. It will be artificially safe and favor Tiger Woods. Afterwards, the stint will be publicized.

Tiger Woods' Google+ Hangout is a PR Stunt

I do not mind if Tiger Woods talks directly with his fans. That is great. But, please do not pretend it is an authentic hangout. We should recognize Tiger Woods' Google+ Hangout on May 29. 2012 for what it is: a public relations stint that bypasses the media.
