Theo Walcott admits he never expected to score 100 goals for Arsenal after reaching three figures in Monday’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Sutton United.

The 27-year-old reached triple figures in the fifth round tie as he tapped home Nacho Monreal’s low cross after fine interplay between Arsenal’s midfield, adding to Lucas Perez’s opener and securing passage to the FA Cup sixth round for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Walcott had been waiting nearly a month to join the Emirates 100 club following on from his hat-trick in the fourth round win over Southampton but revealed that he was still struggling to believe he had reached the milestone.

“I always wanted to put my all in, hard work, but never really [expected to] be in that category of 100 goals for Arsenal,” he told Arsenal Player.

“It’s great. I’m lost for words to be fair because I didn’t really think about it before and it’s just happened. It’ll probably hit me in a few days I’m sure, but I really enjoyed that.

“I’m really proud of that personal achievement of mine. Especially playing out wide, to get that many goals… I don’t want it to stop now. It’s a really good achievement, I’m really happy.

“I couldn’t have done it without the guys as well, past and present, and I can’t thank them enough, all the players I’ve played with up to this point, and this group is brilliant. That’s a special moment for myself personally.”

Walcott became the 18th player to reach triple figures for Arsenal, doing so in 370 appearances across 11 seasons.
