This week’s newsletter, “The Cleveland Cavaliers are slumping, and no one really cares,” comes from Eric Freeman, who contextualizes the calm around what’s been a stormy stretch of three losses in five games for the defending champions, with another Golden State Warriors rematch on the horizon.
The roles of the Cavs and Warriors seem reversed as we head into Monday’s second-straight MLK Day matchup between the teams. A year ago, Golden State crushed Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena in a fashion that suggested they were unbeatable. This time around, it’s the Warriors who have to prove they can erase four straight losses to the Cavaliers and regain a mental edge. Even if Golden State wins handily, it’s hard to imagine LeBron and Co. wouldn’t be the more comfortable team if they meet again in June.
