Texas sophomore point guard Myck Kabongo is skipping his final two collegiate seasons to enter the NBA Draft, the university announced Friday.
Kabongo missed 23 games this season because of an NCAA suspension as a result of providing false information to university officials about receiving unauthorized airfare and personal training.
Returning to play in the Longhorns' final 11 games at the end of the 2012-13 season, Kabongo led the team in scoring (14.6 points), assists (5.5), steals (2.0) and minutes (37.3). He scored a career-high 31 points in a overtime win over Oklahoma on Feb. 27.
Kabongo, who was named the team's most valuable player this season despite his prolonged absence, averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 assists in two years and 45 games at Texas. The Toronto native made the Big !2 All-Rookie team as a freshman.
Texas finished with a subpar 16-18 overall record and went 7-11 in the Big 12.
