KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Shaquille Hines scored 21 points Thursday night and Texas-Pan American rolled over UMKC 78-66 for its first Western Athletic Conference win of the season.
Hines hit a layup and a jumper and Texas-Pan American (5-14, 1-3) led 12-5, then pulled ahead in short scoring spurts to lead 42-27 at halftime. Hines scored 12 points, and Shaquille Boga scored eight of his 18 points, in the first half.
The Broncs hit three straight treys to open the second half and pulled away, at one point leading by 20.
Justin Leathers scored 11, Javorn Farrell added 10, and the Broncs shot 58 percent from the field to 33.9 percent for the Kangaroos (5-11, 2-2).
Martez Harrison scored 17 for UMKC, and Nelson Kirksey and Fred Chatmon scored 13 apiece; Chatmon grabbed 11 rebounds. Trinity Hall added 10 points.
