Texas A&M's Sumlin to get extension, raise

The SportsXchange

Texas A&M announced on Saturday that football coach Kevin Sumlin will receive a contract extension and a raise after leading the Aggies to an 11-2 record and a tie for the No. 5 ranking in the final Associated Press poll.

The terms of the agreement are not known, and the contract still needs to be approved by the board of regents at its Feb. 1 meeting.

Sumlin, who completed his first season at Texas A&M after coaching at Houston in 2011, currently makes $2 million.

The Aggies were the only team to beat Alabama this past season, and they produced the Heisman Trophy winner, quarterback Johnny Mansiel.
