Texans sign veteran Ruud

National Football Post

With defensive captain Brian Cushing lost for the season with a torn ACL, the Houston Texans signed veteran inside linebacker Barrett Ruud on Wednesday.

Ruud, a long-time Tampa Bay Buccaneer, has been bouncing around the league  the past couple of seasons.

He spent last season with the Tennessee Titans and signed with the Seattle Seahawks this year. However, he was traded to the New Orleans Saints in August, where he stayed until being released on Monday.

The Texans also released return man Trindon Holliday on Wednesday and promoted guard Cody White from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
