Texans RB Foster (hamstring) leaves game

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was ruled out of Sunday's game after leaving in the first quarter with a hamstring injury.

Foster and backup Ben Tate were expected to play starring roles in Sunday's game at Kansas City with Case Keenum making his first career start at Arrowhead Stadium.

Foster entered Week 6 as the AFC's top rusher. He carried four times for 11 yards on Houston's first possession before leaving the game.

When he returned from the locker room, he was wearing sweat pants. The Texans announced he was out for the game. Tate took his place with the first-team offense.

Keenum, who like Foster started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent and was a practice-squad player as a rookie, was named Houston's starter Wednesday with Matt Schaub (right ankle) out. Backup T.J. Yates was ineffective last week, prompting coach Gary Kubiak to turn to Keenum for "a spark."
