Texans OT Butler out for season

Texans ORT Rashad Butler will miss the 2012 season after suffering a torn triceps in Thursday’s preseason finale, head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed.

Butler lost the competition to start at right tackle to second-year pro Derek Newton earlier in the week. The seventh-year vet was the team’s top reserve tackle. He played in every game in 2010 with four starts and has appeared in 42 games in his career.

Last season, Butler played in only two games because of an elbow injury. Andrew Gardner is now the team’s most experienced reserve tackle.
