Texans Foster won't rush back from injury

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster does not know when he will be able to begin practice and will not rush back from a calf strain that has landed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list .

"You can't play through it," Foster told the Houston Chronicle. "It's not like you're playing through a broken collar bone. I've played through a lot of things, this is just something you can't. There's no reason to right now. I'm just going to take my time.

"When I feel 100 percent confident, I'll be back. It's just got some light soreness in there. I can do pretty much everything. We're just going to take it day by day," he said.

Foster was injured during organized team activities and has been rehabbing during the offseason. He can be taken off the PUP list at any time, but if he is on it after the second round of cuts, he won't be allowed to be activated for the first six weeks of the regular season.

The Texans are pretty certain that Foster will be ready by then to practice.

"I just want to help out my team and be the best me I can be for my squad," Foster said. "So that's what I've been working toward. I put in so much work I didn't even take a vacation this year. I took one. For four days."
