There were a couple of times that Gary Kubiak's job security has been questioned with the Houston Texans.
But after the Texans made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, winning the AFC South in the process, Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith have been rewarded with contract extensions by owner Bob McNair, says John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Kubiak has been the Texans' head coach since 2006, and along with Smith, who was hired as general manager the same year. That duo has helped stabilize the franchise, guiding it to contender status over the past few seasons.
Smith received a four-year extension, while Kubiak received a three-year addition.
