The Tennessee football team will honor one of the university’s legends during the 2016 season.

Vols coach Butch Jones confirmed Saturday that his team will have a commemorative sticker on their helmets to honor the late Pat Summitt. Summitt, the longtime Tennessee women’s basketball coach, died on June 28 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 64.

“We are excited about wearing a commemorative sticker on the back of our helmet to honor the late Pat Summitt,” Jones said. “We all know everything that she stands for and I think it is very fitting that Tennessee football recognize her and everything that she means to the University of Tennessee and the great state of Tennessee and for sports in general.”

Summitt spent 38 years as the head coach of the Lady Vols and led the program to eight national titles. Overall, Summitt won 1,098 games at Tennessee, the most in NCAA basketball history.
