Coming off a 34-0 pasting by the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Jets need some sort of spark.
So with a nationally televised potential whipping coming at the hands of the unbeaten Houston Texans, what do the Jets do to avoid another embarrassing loss? Gary Myers of the New York Daily News thinks the answer lies in more work for Tim Tebow.
Myers points out that Tebow has only thrown one pass from the Wildcat formation and has run nine times for 38 yards, pedestrian numbers through four games. But with Mark Sanchez struggling, and the weapons around him falling like flies, giving Tebow a bigger role in the offense could create the spark the Jets desperately need to salvage their season.
Are the Jets afraid that Tebow playing well could upstage Sanchez and fuel the quarterback controversy they have tried to dodge ever since they acquired him in March? Well, a quarterback controversy, while not ideal for any team, is still better than another lopsided loss.
