The Christian Post focuses on religion and covers stories of God's work. Sports have never been a big section of the publication. That is, until New York Jets QB Tim Tebow became a media sensation. They now have a blog devoted to Tebow called "The Tebow Beat."
With headlines like "NFL: One Hour Until Tebow Time" and "Media in Quandary Over Shirtless Tim Tebow Running in the Rain," this new blog covers all things Tebow. Not the typical headlines one is used to seeing on The Christian Post, but what better way to draw in the younger Christian readers than to focus on the most popular Christian in the country right now?
Their most recent post is sure to get lots of coverage and will more than likely even be read by Tebow. On August 14th, Tebow will turn 25 years old and The Christian Post is wishing him a happy birthday in a big way.
They have created a virtual birthday card and are inviting everyone to come and write their birthday wishes to the star backup QB. They plan to deliver the card to Tebow. According to the blog post, they state, "Let's put the 'Wildcat' talk aside and wish Tim Tebow a Happy Birthday! Tebow turns 25 years old TOMORROW!" They go on to say, "So, we will be presenting him with a birthday card (at least virtually) tomorrow if you would like to participate in the celebration please leave a congratulatory Happy Birthday below in the comments section."
The graphic card that they have created reads, "Tim Tebow. Happy Birthday! Thank you for showing your devotion to Jesus on and off the field! Blessings, The Tebow Beat and The Christian Post."
Reading through the comments, it is amazing to see just how many fans Tebow has touched. There are messages from Denver Broncos fans wishing he was still a member of the team, but there are also many messages from fans of other NFL teams.
The card shows that while Tebow may be an NFL player working on one team, he has touched fans around the world. His work ethics, determination and his faith have brought fans from around the league.
While many will question his playing ability, just reading through these comments, you can see that Tebow is so much more than just what he does on the field. I can't remember any other football player in recent years that has gained such a widespread fan-base. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out for Tebow and I wish him a very Happy Birthday.
