Teams to honor Newtown victims

The NFL teams closest to where the tragic shootings took place Friday morning in Newtown, Conn., will honor the memory of those who were killed.

The New York Giants and the New York Jets will wear a decal on the backs of their helmets during this weekend's games with the initials S.H.E.S. for Sandy Hook Elementary School, where the 26 children and adults lost their lives in a mass shooting inside the building.

The New England Patriots also will wear a special decal on their helmets -- a black-ribbon logo -- and light 26 flares over Gillette Stadium during a moment of silence before their game against San Francisco on Sunday night.

The NFL requested Friday that a moment of silence be observed before all games this weekend.

The Giants play at Atlanta on Sunday and the Jets travel to Tennessee on Monday night.

Newtown is approximately 60 miles northwest of New York City.
