Take a guess how Jaguars coach Gus Bradley defines a 'hot' streak

Yes, things are (still) bad around the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the good news is that head coach Gus Bradley is a positive-thinking, rose-glasses kind of cat.

Oh, wait, that’s not a good thing, you say?

Bradley owns a 14-42 record and his team is 2-6 this season. As the media-anointed “team on the rise” this offseason, that’s being deemed not good enough. (The other such team, the Oakland Raiders, are 7-2 for measure.)

The team made a big splash this offseason, and it hasn’t translated into more wins — in fact, Bradley winning percentage entering the season was .250 and … it remains so. With his neck on the line, Bradley has raised the stakes a bit. He says his team needs a win streak and needs it now.

“We need to take care of this game [this week vs. Houston] and win one to get hot; I understand that,” Bradley said Monday, via the Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “I just think this team can get on a roll.”

OK, so every streak starts with a win, right? But if you’re one of those wild folks who defines a win streak — aka, getting “hot” — as containing multiple consecutive victories — then Bradley only has done it three times before. The Jaguars won three straight in 2013, and they won two in a row twice, once last season and once this season.

So by comparison, we suppose, one win would be rather warm, if not even “hot.”
