Tailgating at University of Washington's Husky Stadium

All You Need to Know About Tailgating at Husky Stadium in Seattle

Watching a great football game is a terrific way to spend an evening, especially if you can have a cool tailgating experience. The Washington Huskies play at Husky Stadium on the campus of the University of Washington, a great place to have a lot of pre-game fun.

I have laid out some important information on the Husky Stadium tailgating experience, including location, tips and rules; enjoy, then go and watch a game.

Location: 3800, Montlake Blvd, NE Seattle, WA, 98105.

Allocated Lots: The north and south parking lots are packed with tailgaters, and the "Montlake Lot" is used by season ticket holders only. There is also the unusual option to tailgate by boat on Lake Washington next to the stadium. The Husky crew team supplies shuttles to fans who want to go to the games from the boats.

Tailgating Hours: Most lots open four or five hours before the game. However, there has been a problem with this, as many fans want to find their place and party much earlier.

Food And Drink: I was there a while ago and there was a sign saying no glass bottles, which basically meant no glass. There is also a no BBQ and open flame rule in all parking garages. The Padelford Garage roof is available for BBQ, as long as there is nothing above you.

Parking Tips: The upper campus public parking lot is just a 10-minute walk to the stadium. We parked there once and it was great for tailgating.

Don't park outside the lots waiting for them to open; that was frowned upon and we were asked to move.

Tents: Tents must be attached to the car/truck; nothing free-standing.

Tips:

1. Before leaving, check what time the gates open on gameday.

2. Get there early so you have enough time to party.

3. Have a dedicated driver.

I have tailgated at the Husky Stadium three times. Recently there have been renovations and the team have been moved to Century Link Stadium in Seattle but will be be back for the 2013 season.
